For hundreds of years the Door County Peninsula has been a popular vacation spot. The 75 mile peninsula includes five state parks, another 25 county and local parks, and countless nature preserves and conservancies. There are ten historic lighthouses, and over 300 miles of shoreline. Everywhere you turn you will behold the most beautiful scenery. Spring, summer, winter and fall all offer a unique view of Door County.

Every quaint city, town and village in Door County has a history, with significant settlement beginning in the mid 1800’s. You will find many groups throughout the county dedicated to preserving the history and sharing it with visitors.

You are not limited when it comes to recreation here. You will find 11 golf courses ranging from 9 to 36 holes. There is no finer place to wet a line if fishing is your game. Just about any water sport imaginable is available somewhere in Door County from a peaceful sunset sailboat cruise, to windsurfing the bay. You can be as active or relaxed as you want to be. The choices are endless.

No matter what your interest, you will find a wide range of artistic, cultural and entertainment choices. The pristine beauty of the area is a magnet for artists of all mediums. Shops and galleries throughout the peninsula offer the works of world renowned fine artists and craftspeople including potters, sculptors, weavers and jewelers.

Door County's entertainment is nationally acclaimed. The American Folklore Theater is set in the woods of Peninsula State Park, which uses stars and trees as the backdrop for this fun outdoor theatre. Peninsula Players is America’s oldest professional residential summer theater, set on the bay-side of Door County. The Birch Creek Music Performance Center provides a great taste of big band and jazz in a wonderfully casual setting. On the other end of the musical spectrum, the Peninsula Music Festival offers the finest symphonic concerts within the excellent acoustics of the Door County Auditorium.

Small independent retailers offer a refreshing break from strip malls and big box stores. Every village has it’s own offering of unique gifts, home furnishings and one of a kind jewelry and clothing.

Door County is host to numerous independent wineries offering award winning wines. Share a brew in a micro brewery or stop for a freshly roasted cup of Door County coffee. There are even trolley tours that take you to the parks, wineries, and lighthouses.
